Blackhawks Post-game One-Timers — Dec. 4 vs. New York Islanders

Following a 5–2 win over the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden, the Chicago Blackhawks continued their road trip through New York with a Sunday night tilt against the New York Islanders at UBS Arena. The Hawks could not carry the momentum over as they dropped a 3–0 decision to the Islanders behind a 21-save shutout by Semyon Varlamov.

— After a scoreless first period, the Islanders struck first at the 8:58 mark of the second period to take a 1–0 lead. Following a call for video review from Toronto, it was determined that Matt Martin’s shot from in close went past Hawks goaltender Arvid Soderblom and crossed the goal line for his third tally of the season.

— At 14:31, the Islanders took a 2–0 lead when Zach Parise tipped in his eighth of the season off an Adam Pelech shot from the right circle.

— The Islanders made it 3–0 just 43 seconds later off the rush when Brock Nelson one-timed his 12th of the season off an Anthony Beauvillier feed.

— The Hawks generated few quality scoring chances and were outshot 40–21 for the game. Half of the Islanders shots on goal came in the second period, where the Isles scored all three of their goals.

The Blackhawks’ road trip concludes on Tuesday night when they visit the Metropolitan Division-leading New Jersey Devils at Prudential Center. Puck drop is 6 p.m. CST.
