Winners of four out of their last five games, the Chicago Blackhawks hit the road on Thursday night to play the Philadelphia Flyers at Wells Fargo Center. For the Hawks, Petr Mrazek started in net against the Flyers’ Carter Hart.
— The Flyers opened the scoring when Morgan Frost skated in on an odd-man rush and snapped a wrister from the slot past Mrazek for his 10th of the season at the 8:52 mark of the first. The Flyers held the lead through one period.
— Nearly midway through the second, Jonathan Toews tied it at 1–1 with his 13th of the season when he deflected a point shot from Seth Jones.
— The Hawks took a 2–1 lead at the 15:51 mark of the second when Reese Johnson scored his third of the season. Colin Blackwell forced a turnover at the blue line, then, while falling down, fed Johnson in the slot, who wristed one past Hart to give Chicago its first lead of the game.
— Just 35 seconds into the third, the Hawks took a 3–1 lead when Tyler Johnson scored his fifth of the season. Hart stopped a Patrick Kane shot from the slot but left a juicy rebound on the side of the goal that Johnson pounced on to give the Hawks a two-goal lead.
— With 41.3 seconds left, Philipp Kurashev added an empty-netter for his seventh of the season to give the Hawks a 4–1 lead and a win in a building which has been a house of horrors for the Hawks in the regular season. The victory was their first regular season triumph in Philadelphia since 1996.
— Mrazek made 37 saves for his fifth win of the season.
The Hawks wrap up their brief two-game road swing on Saturday night against the St. Louis Blues at Enterprise Center. Puck drop is at 8 p.m. CST.
