Following Friday nights exciting win in Denver, the Blackhawks made a minor pre-Christmas roster move. Luke Johnson was sent to Rockford, while Jacob Nilsson was recalled.
Johnson, who was a Blackhawks 2013 5th-round draft pick, was recently recalled from Rockford due to the injury to Marcus Kruger on December 18th. The 5’11” 180 lbs center out of University of North Dakota has 1 point and a minus 18 +/- with the Blackhawks, in a mostly defensive role with the team this season. With the Rockford Icehogs, Johnson has 7 points (3G,4A) in 10 games.
Jacob Nilsson was signed as a free agent this past offseason from Jeremy Colliton‘s former Swedish Hockey League team, Mora IK. Colliton has some intimate knowledge of the 5’10” 180 lbs forward’s game after coaching him for two seasons in Sweden. Nilsson currently has 14 points (6G,8A) in 31 AHL games with the Icehogs.
