The annual Traverse City rookie tournament in Traverse City, Michigan, is right around the corner. A showcase tournament for numerous NHL farm systems, the Chicago Blackhawks will once again battle for the 2019 Matthew Wuest Memorial Cup.
Blackhawks announce rookie tournament roster
After taking home the tournament championship in 2017, the Blackhawks rookies hope to reclaim their crown after falling short last season. Headlined by 2018 and 2019 top overall draft picks Adam Boqvist and Kirby Dach, the Blackhawks’ rookies drop the puck in Traverse City on Sept. 6.

Chicago has invited five players that are not in the organizational system with forwards Cole Purboo, Sean Josling, Riley McKay, Isaac Nurse and goaltender Nick Kossoff. Defenseman Dennis Gilbert is the only player with more than double-digit professional games under his belt.
When and where?
The Blackhawks head to Traverse City, Michigan, on Sept. 6 through Sept. 10 for the annual rookie tournament. They will be competing against the Columbus Blue Jackets, Dallas Stars, Detroit Red Wings, Minnesota Wild, New York Rangers, St. Louis Blues and Toronto Maple Leafs.
Chicago’s schedule for the tournament looks like this:

- Saturday, Sept 7 vs Maple Leafs (2 p.m. CT)
- Monday, Sept 9 vs Blues (4:30 p.m. CT)
