Head coach Aaron Schneekloth returned to the helm of the Colorado Eagles for the first time since the 2017–18 season. This time, the circumstances were different. The Eagles have now been part of the American Hockey League since that 2018. So, having won two ECHL Kelly Cup Championships and served as an AHL assistant for five years, he had set high expectations for himself. The Eagles would have their second best finish (in points) since joining the AHL, but finish the regular season fourth in the Pacific Division. Here are a few things that the Eagles have to look forward to this season with their upcoming 2024–25 schedule.
A look ahead
The Eagles will play 11 teams in total this season, all teams that they met last season. The Eagles will meet every team on the road as well. There will be 36 home games and 36 road games, totaling 72 games throughout the season. There will only be two teams that the Eagles meet that are not in the Pacific Division. These teams are the Texas Stars (DAL) and the Grand Rapids Griffins (DET).
As usual, Colorado will have a weekend heavy schedule when at home, with Friday and Saturday seeing the most games.
Home dates by day:
— Tuesday–4
— Wednesday–4
— Friday–12
— Saturday–14
— Sunday–2

Opponents
Tucson (Utah) will be the opening weekend opponent this season. In their four meetings last season, the rivals took the Eagles down three times and only lost once. The Western Conference Champion Coachella Valley Firebirds will come to town four times and meet again on the road four more times. The Eagles once again split an eight game series against Abbotsford, the team that eliminated them from the playoffs last season.
— Henderson Silver Knights (VGK)
— Texas Stars (DAL)
— San Diego Gulls (ANA)
— Bakersfield Condors (EDM)
— Coachella Valley Firebirds (SEA)
— Grand Rapids Griffins (DET)
— San Jose Barracuda (SJS)
— Abbotsford Canucks (VAN)
— Calgary Wranglers (CGY)
— Ontario Reign (LAK)
— Tucson Roadrunners (Utah)
The genuine test will be their longest stretch of six games in 10 days on the road in March.
Conclusion
With a very similar schedule to last season, it will be interesting to see how the Eagles perform. They will come into the year with a VERY different roster than last season. The backup goalie situation is still quite unsure, but Trent Miner gained a lot of confidence with Justus Annunen getting injured for six weeks last season. Either way, look forward to a season packed full of coverage from The-Rink Colorado team!
