On Saturday, USA Hockey named their roster for the upcoming IIHF World Championships in Denmark. Four players from the Chicago Blackhawks will be playing for the United States as Patrick Kane, Alex DeBrincat, Connor Murphy, and Jordan Oesterle were named to the 23-man roster.
Kane Named USA Captain, Three Other Blackhawks Join Team USA
Patrick Kane was named the Team USA Captain earlier this month and will be playing in his second-ever World Championship after taking sixth-place in the 2008 tournament. Connor Murphy will play in his fifth-straight World Championships, having helped USA to a Bronze Medal in the 2015 tournament and Captained last year’s Team USA squad that took fifth-place. For DeBrincat and Oesterle, they will both be making their first appearances for Team USA in the World Championships. DeBrincat has represented the United States on the international stage as a member of the 2016 Team USA World Junior’s team that took home a Bronze Medal. Jordan Oesterle will be making his Team USA debut on the international stage.
The United States opens the IIHF World Championships on Friday, May 4 against Canada and is in Group B, which has the USA, Canada, Finland, Germany, Norway, Latvia, Korea, and host nation Denmark.

Along with the four players from the current Blackhawks team, former Chicago goaltender Scott Darling will also be making his debut for Team USA and assistant coach Don Granato will be on Team USA’s coaching staff.
