IceHogs goalie Berube Reportedly Out For “Weeks”

Rockford Icehogs won the game but lost the battle, Saturday, when starting goaltender Jean-Francois Berube was injured in the Icehogs 7-2 rout of the defending Calder Cup Champs, Grand Rapid Griffins.  Berube was injured about half way through the second period, when a Griffins player clipped him.  He needed to be helped off the ice and and was not able to put weight on the leg, which is never a good sign.

Backup Jeff Glass replaced Berube for the remainder of the game.  Third string goalie Collin Delia, who was not dressed for this game, was forced to come down to the locker room and get dressed to backup Glass, for the third period.

Sources indicate that Berube will be out as long as a matter of weeks with a lower body injury, possibly a sprained ankle or knee injury.

This means that 32 year old Jeff Glass will, once again, handle a majority of the Icehogs goaltending duties, but #TheRinkLegendCollinDelia should get a shot at seeing some AHL time, as well.

Delia has been doing the Rockford-to-Indy shuffle for most of the season, so getting a chance to plant his roots with one team for a few weeks should be a welcomed and settling proposition.

The Icehogs will be in San Antonio to face the Rampage on Friday night.
