Happy New Year, Everyone! The Indy Fuel kicked off their new year by adding 32-year-old goalie Dan Bakala to their roster.
Bakala has spent the first half of this season with the Mora IK in the Swedish Allsvenskan. He appeared in five games with Mora IK recording 4.26 goals-against average and .854 save percentage. Before his stint with Mora IK, Bakala played in the EBEL (Austria) for 49 games with a 3.06 goals-against average and a .908 save percentage in 2018–19.
The Candian, Bakala spent five seasons in the EBEL (Austria), DEL (Germany), SHL and Allsvenskan (Sweden). During his time in the SHL, Bakala helped the Frolunda Indians to the Champion League Championship in 2016–17.
To make room for Bakla, the Indy Fuel released goalie Gordon Defiel. Defiel appeared in two games with the Fuel this season. He appeared in nine games with the Fuel over the last two seasons.
