Kalynuk sidelined 2–4 weeks with right ankle sprain

The Chicago Blackhawks announced that second-year defenseman Wyatt Kalynuk will miss approximately 2–4 weeks after sustaining a right ankle sprain on Tuesday.

Kalynuk was expected to be among the defensemen on the Blackhawks’ opening night roster, but his temporary absence now opens a spot for another blueliner to see regular season action.

Originally a seventh-round draft pick of the Philadelphia Flyers, Kalynuk recorded four goals and five assists in 21 contests with the Blackhawks last season after a successful three-year career at the University of Wisconsin from 2017–2020.
