On Monday night, Chicago Blackhawks prospect Mackenzie Entwistle and the Guelph Storm topped the Ottawa 67’s in Game 3 of the OHL Championship Series, 7–2. Entwistle found the back of the net twice in the win, which happened to be the first loss by the 67’s this postseason.

The Ottawa 67’s have been on a mission this postseason in the OHL playoffs. Having swept their way into the OHL Final, they faced the Guelph Storm having already tied the best undefeated record in OHL playoff history at 12–0, tying the 1987–88 Windsor Spitfires. That Spitfires team, led by future Stanley Cup champion Adam Graves, is the only team to run through the OHL playoffs without a loss, but played one fewer round, having opted for a second round bye before sweeping their final two series.

Heading into Monday night, the 67’s had a 2–0 series lead over the Storm and a perfect 14–0 record in the OHL playoffs. But, the 1987–88 Spitfires can pop the champagne bottles knowing they remain the only undefeated OHL champions, as the Storm took home-ice and pounded the 67’s 7–2 to cut Ottawa’s series lead to 2–1 heading into Game 4.

The highlight of the night for Blackhawks fans came in the third period when prospect Mackenzie Entwistle scored two goals to pad the Storm’s lead in the final period. Entwistle showed patience on his first goal, out-waiting 67’s goaltender Cedrick Andree and going glove-side for the 5–2 goal. Later in the period, Entwistle took a drop pass in the slot from Nick Suzuki and buried it behind Andree for his second of the night.

In 21 games this postseason, Entwistle has 19 points (Seven goals, 12 assists) ranking fifth on the Storm in scoring. His 19 points sets a new OHL playoff career-high, topping his 17 points last year on the way to winning the J. Ross Robertson Cup with the Hamilton Bulldogs. In 49 career OHL playoff games, Entwistle has 38 points.

Game 4 between the 67’s and Storm is set for Wednesday, May 8. Puck drop is scheduled for 7 p.m. Eastern at Sleeman Centre in Guelph, Ontario.
