fattybeef replied to the topic Analysis: Where do the Blackhawks go from here? in the forum Chicago Blackhawks 5 years, 1 month ago
This probably is a playoff team with a competent coach. Probably a gets smoked in the first round team but still. You have to think one of the veteran coaches is hired in the off season if they think they really are a playoff team.
They’re 2 defenders and a top 9 forward away on paper (at least).
Keith/Murphy, de Haan/Boqvist, Somebody/Maybe…Read more

fattybeef replied to the topic Analysis: Should the Blackhawks be Compared to the ’12 Kings? in the forum Chicago Blackhawks 6 years, 1 month ago
Hughes or Kakko will both be in the NHL next year. Possibly Podkolzin and Cozens and Dach maybe a year away. Those guys all have high level talent which the hawks don’t have enough of and they would come cheap.
It’ll take 1-2 years which is what the Hawks should be shooting for.
The only things to be excited about for the Hawks are Kanes…Read more

Some of those numbers as a percentage are just ugly. If they were closer to the middle of the pack maybe you could argue they hey hot but woof.
Interestingly enough, the numbers are worse under JC then Q in terms of what you would look at to predict success.
Kane having a historic season and the PP are hiding a lot but have been fun.

fattybeef replied to the topic Analysis: Can we get back to sanity about the Blackhawks? in the forum Chicago Blackhawks 6 years, 1 month ago
The Hawks have elite talent all of the Sharks, Flames, Jets and Preds have more of. The Flames and Sharks both have goalie issues but on the ice way better.
With how they are playing, they could dump 7 straight playing the same as they are now. It’s crazy to watch. Yay winning but not really. Member how they started the year? You member…

fattybeef replied to the topic RECAP: Blackhawks Beat the Red Wings for Seventh Win in a Row in the forum Chicago Blackhawks 6 years, 1 month ago
Neat they won but even with the score factored in giving +40 shots to Detroit is bad.
There should be a nasty correction at some point though that may not happen until the playoffs with his things are going or until after they do something stupid and buy at the deadline.

fattybeef replied to the topic Mediocrity Is Killing The Blackhawks Future in the forum Chicago Blackhawks 6 years, 2 months ago
Also, the culture thing is way over blown. Even when you’re on a bad team you still try hard to win. Losing some games isn’t going to hurt these guys feelings or ruin a young player.
Keith, Seabrook, Sharp, Hossa – all on some very bad teams before a surplus of talent got the Hawks to the top and it is what will bring them back.
Losing this year…Read more

The Hawks are 7 players away.
1 top six forward, an entire 4th line. 3rd line 40pt player.
If you include Keith and Seabrook, two top four defenders.
The only reason they ara this ‘close’ is the power play. That falls back to earth or they flip Gus (or Saad + Gus for a Hamilton type – we have some of the worlds best museums) and they get better…Read more

Hmmmm. I don’t understand this.
Forsling has been bad and Dahlstrom has fallen back to earth. Yikes.

fattybeef replied to the topic Could the Colorado Avalanche Trade for Patrick Kane? in the forum Chicago Blackhawks 6 years, 2 months ago
Ok so I see Kane as aging like Martin St Louis who was a PPG player until he was 37 and dumped 52 points as a 39 year old.
The dude is going to have a high value through his current contract and will be still primed and pumped in 3 years.
Unless you flip him for a top 2 pick + now (which may or may not give you a comparable talent), I think hes…Read more

Kane would be Ottawas first, 2020 first 2021 second that becomes a first if Kane wins another playoff mvp award. Their best prospect. And one roster player that is replacement level.
Chicago can send some junk the other way.
The scenario above is a little thin. The AVs are poor on the blue line and need depth (like everyone else) more than…Read more

fattybeef replied to the topic Recap: Islanders nip Hawks in OT, 3-2 in the forum Chicago Blackhawks 6 years, 3 months ago
So, the Islanders just have a better team with more talent and NHL experience.
The Hawks skated 10 players where this is their first season as NHL “regulars” or trying to be anyway.
Gus, Forsling, Dahlstrom and Young Henri are 4 of them. Wow.
At least in last night’s game Strome, Kampf, Perlini, Sikura, Hayden and Kahun played. Some showed…Read more

fattybeef replied to the topic The Blackhawks Rinkcast – Episode 39 – Injuries Aplenty in the forum Chicago Blackhawks 6 years, 3 months ago
Gus – not a good hockey player. Guy clueless in his own end. Shouldn’t look that bad at his age.
Strome is a good hockey player and a summer of gym time with Debrincat makes a massive difference next fall. The dude has a high level of skill and sees the game at exceptionally well. Excellent return for Schmaltz plus they got a guy who can skate…Read more

fattybeef replied to the topic ANALYSIS: With Crawford Out What Do The Blackhawks Do? in the forum Chicago Blackhawks 6 years, 3 months ago
The Delia call up I think indicates the Hawks still dont know how to appropriately handle brain injuries and expect Crow to come back. Or they are really sour on Forsberg. I think youd hope Forsberg could show something then flip him at the TDL if they thought Delia was the guy. You know get value for an asset.

I like the rant. Dont have a problem with the Keith or Toews or Kane deals. Here are bad ones:
Seabrook until the end of time post 30. Should have paid more AVV over less time or let him walk.
AA without playing a game. (I like AA but he’s redundant if they keep Danault like they should have)
Gus was not a good deal even as a cost controlled…Read more

Jokiharju + Sikura for 1st and conditional 4th lol?
Sharks are a really good team. If Jones gets his life together they will be dangerous in the playoffs. Tough to call a favorite in the West with how good the Jets and Preds are too.

fattybeef replied to the topic RECAP: Blackhawks Lose Game And Crawford vs Sharks in the forum Chicago Blackhawks 6 years, 3 months ago
Also, call me crazy but fipping Jokiharju to i dunno maybe New Jersey, Florida or the AVs for Ottawas first since Mitchell, Boqvist and Seabs will occupy the right side and have two shots at first and two top 10 picks maybe a cool thing to do…

fattybeef replied to the topic RECAP: Blackhawks Lose Game And Crawford vs Sharks in the forum Chicago Blackhawks 6 years, 3 months ago
Hossa yea but also depth players. San Jose’s 3rd and 4th line players seem light years a head of what the Hawks have thwre.
That being said, they bury a power play opportunity in the second and they are in a better spot.
That hit Crow took was nasty. Good thing Martinsen and Hayden were suited up to protect guys and stuff.
On a high note Strome…Read more

I’ll try to be brief but that never goes as planned.
1. Bowmans moves have been very hit or miss at tth pro level. Not a lot of meh. Barker for Leddy was a home run. Coming off Leddy though because the cap not so much. Lotta very bad defenders in and out but also never needed to get a top 4 guy except Oduya.
2. Drafting has been pretty solid but…Read more

The Hawks don’t have a lot of smurfs… And the ones that were on the ice played well. Montreal is a smaller team.
DeBrincat had a nice game though didnt get on the scoreboard. Kahun made an incredible pass to Kane. Kane railed in two goals. Jokiharju looks good when not saddled next to Manning who is pretty atrocious.
They could definitely use…Read more
