The NHL Network continued their ranking of players by position, this weekend, after Jonathan Toews and Duncan Keith were left out of the top 20 players of their respective positions earlier last week.
Despite the Blackhawks seemingly fall from grace, it is hard to argue that Patrick Kane is still one of the top offensive players (at any position) in the world. According to the network rankings he sits at fourth overall, behind only Nikita Kucherov of the Tampa Bay Lightning, Alex Ovechkin of the cup champion Washington Capitals, and Taylor Hall of the New Jersey Devils.
Arguably one of the best and most decorated US born hockey players, Kane had another year of decline this past season, as did many of the other Blackhawks players. His “decline” was still good enough to put up 76 points (27G, 49A), but held him out of the top 20 in all three major offensive categories.
