In their second preseason game in as many nights, the Chicago Blackhawks bested the St. Louis Blues 5–1 Saturday at Cable Dahmer Arena in Independence, Missouri, home of the ECHL’s Kansas City Mavericks. The Hawks are now 1–1–1 in their three preseason contests.
After Torey Krug gave the Blues a 1–0 lead 50 seconds into the game, Chicago struck back quickly at 2:22, as Henrik Borgstrom tallied his first goal in a Blackhawks sweater, with an unassisted wrist shot from the slot.

Moments later, another Hawk would score his first. Colton Dach banged home a power play marker at 17:16. Adam Gaudette and Brett Connolly would register assists on the play, and the Hawks would take a 2–1 advantage into the second period.

Just past the halfway mark of the second frame, MacKenzie Entwistle put away a nice feed from Jujhar Khaira to make it 3–1 Chicago. Jakub Galvas notched an assist on the goal.

The Hawks continued to pour it on when Mike Hardman made it 4–1 with an accurate wrist shot from inside the left circle. Borgstrom assisted on the goal for his second point of the night.

Dominik Kubalik completed the scoring in the third period and the Hawks would cruise to a 5–1 victory. Malcolm Subban had a solid night in goal turning away 18 of 19 shots faced.
Chicago has their second preseason engagement with the Detroit Red Wings on Monday at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit.
Earlier today, the Hawks announced that they have trimmed their roster from 63 to 49 players. The following players were sent down to Rockford. While there are not any names on the list that will come as major surprises, there will certainly be more difficult moves ahead for Stan Bowman and Jeremey Colliton.
