Chicago Steel defenseman Luke Reid was named the USHL “Defenseman of the Week“ for the week of March 18–24. Read registered three points (1 assist, 2 goals) in three games during the week.
On Friday, Reid scored his first career USHL goal against the Green Bay Gamblers. The University of North Dakota commit has registered 18 points (1 goal, 17 assists) in 53 games played this season. Reid also registered a +8 rating for the week, improving his yearly total to +13.
With the announcement, Reid joined the Captain Matteo Pietroniro as the second Steel defenseman awarded this season.
“Luke is one of the most competitive players I have been around,” said Head Coach Greg Moore. “This honor has been long coming for a player who has been a big contributor offensively and defensively for our team.”
Reid and his teammates are back in action this weekend for back-to-back home games, both starting at 7:05 p.m. Friday night is “Pucks and Pups” as the Madison Capitols visit before the Waterloo Black Hawks come to town, on Saturday, in which the first 500 fans receive a “College” t-shirt.
